About the Event
In July 2011, under the leadership of Bhutan, sixty-eight countries co-sponsored a UN resolution titled "Happiness: towards a holistic approach to development," and on April 2 the Royal Government of Bhutan will be convening a high-level meeting at the UN on "Happiness and Well-Being."
On the eve of this historic global event, the Rubin Museum and Tenzin Gyatso Institute will host an intimate dialogue between Dasho Karma Ura and Professor Sachs. Join us to explore what it will take to put our planet on a different path; creating a new economic paradigm that promotes harmony with nature, respects ancient traditions and wisdom, and builds strong communities
Join us to envision and explore what it will take to shift our planet towards a different path, by creating a new global economic paradigm that promotes harmony with nature, respects our ancient traditions and wisdom, and builds strong, healthy communities.
Proceeds benefit the educational programs of the Rubin Museum of Art and the scholarship initiatives of the Tenzin Gyatso Institute.
The Rubin Museum of Art is a dynamic environment that stimulates learning, promotes understanding, and inspires personal connections through the ideas, cultures, and art of Himalayan Asia.
The Tenzin Gyatso Institute (TGI) was founded to advance, promote and put into action the values of enlightened education, religious harmony, and compassionate social action - ideals embodied by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Tracing the arc of the Dalai Lama’s own journey, the TGI is forging a dynamic East-West exchange by bringing the most promising monastic scholars from the Himalayas to study physics, psychology and humanities in American universities. This fusion of the unique wisdom tradition of Tibetan Buddhism with the 'outer sciences' of modernity will equip these future leaders to traverse both worlds, and to generate revolutionary new ways of addressing our most pressing global challenges.
