Stupas of the Krishna Valley is about the Buddhist heritage of the Krishna Valley in Andhra Pradesh. The sites covered are Guntupalli, Jaggayapeta, Amravati, Nagarjunakonda, Panigiri, Gummadidurru, Ghantasala and others (3rd century BCE - 4th century CE).

This series of films by Benoy K. Behl is the first that depicts all of the ancient Buddhist sites of India as well as other Asian countries. The story of the Buddha and of the development of Buddhism is traced through the art and architecture of over one hundred major monuments. The series is presented as a complement to the new exhibition From India East.
About the Speaker
A senior curator at the Rubin Museum, Christian Luczanits received his education at the University of Vienna, Austria. His research focuses on Buddhist art of India and Tibet. He has extensively published on Western Himalayan and early Tibetan art, and was the curator of “Gandhara – the Buddhist Heritage of Pakistan” in Germany, as well as the Masterworks and Flip Side exhibitions currently on view at the Rubin Museum. Dr. Luczanits has taught at the University of Vienna, UC Berkeley, Free University in Berlin, UC Santa Barbara, and Stanford University.
