Give the gift of prayer beads… made by you.  Create your own strand of semi-precious mala to keep or give as a gift, guided by experts from Beads of Paradise NYC, and the Venerable Paltul Rinpoche.

Choose between three semi-precious bead options: jade, quartz, and carnelian (pictured left to right: jade, quartz, and carnelian).  Make your selection at the time of your ticket purchase so that your materials may be prepared.

Carnelian is believed to purify the blood, enhance passion and inspire courageousness, while yak bone spacers are hand carved with the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum", the repetition of which is said to speed the coming of enlightened compassion.

Jade is said to be not only representative of the Confucian virtues of justice and wisdom, but also to bring luck, good health, and prosperity. Hand carved yakbone beads bear the Buddha's Eye, to ward off evil and misfortune, and lend insight.

Quartz is said to aid in purification, bringing the mind and body into harmony, while aligning the self with the universe. It is spaced out with banded agates, renowned for balancing yin and yang energies while providing protection form all life's difficulties.

Participants will learn the symbolism and proper use of their own strand of 108 beads and will have the opportunity to have their new mala blessed by the lama.

Materials are included in the price of the workshop.

Includes an optional gallery tour of Count Your Blessings at 6:15 p.m.
