The stand-by list becomes available at the admissions desk exactly two (2) hours before the start of the program. You must be physically present to sign up on the list. Any available tickets will be released to the stand-by list, in order, beginning ten minutes before the start of the program. Each person can purchase up to two tickets. You must be physically present at the time your name is called or your place in line will be forfeited. Unfortunately, we are unable to predict how many tickets, if any, may become available.

The Garrison Institute joins with The Rubin to host three well-known teachers who have recently published books about tapping the benefits of mindfulness, happiness, and focused engagement in the workplace. The exchange of ideas in this panel will derive from key points in the panelists’ recently published books--Sharon Salzberg’s Real Happiness at Work , Janice Marturano’s Finding the Space to Lead and Daniel Goleman’s Focus: the Hidden Driver of Excellence. Moderated by New York Times journalist David Gelles, who himself is writing a book entitled Mindful Work, the evening promises a lively debate from these distinguished leaders of the mindfulness movement.
The panelists explore how even the best jobs can be marked by stress, tough deadlines, impatient bosses, uncooperative subordinates, and seemingly endless meetings. But as science increasingly shows, meditation is an antidote. What if you could hit the pause button on the crazy momentum of your day, step back and meet your challenges with a sense of space and clear focus? Internationally known teacher and author Sharon Salzberg brings the immediate and direct practice of meditation to the arena of the workplace. Janice Marturano, a senior executive with decades of experience in Fortune 500 corporations, explains how to integrate the practice of mindfulness meditation and self awareness with effective techniques of management and mentorship. And psychologist Daniel Goleman, Ph.D., author of the New York Times bestseller Emotional Intelligence and Social Intelligence, discusses the three types of focus most necessary to exemplary performance in the workplace.
