The Rubin Karen Finley
The stand by list begins at 5pm at the museum's front desk.
It is rumored that Ms. Finley will be dressed in red china silk pyjamas for her dreamtime homage to C.G. Jung on Monday evening. What will you be wearing? Ms. Finley asks that, in order gain admittance to her Red Book Club you should wear, bare, or bear something red. Please come early to take advantage of the bar’s crimson-colored beverages (alcoholic and non-) which you will be able to take down to the cabaret seating at the Red Book Club. The show will start promptly at 7.
Karen Finley interprets Jung's dreams in a new performance piece. This is not new territory for this controversial performance artist. Her works have in some ways always addressed the unconscious, including The Dreams of Laura Bush/The Passion of Terri Schiavo at the Boulder Museum of Art (2008) and Pooh Unplugged, detailing the eating and psychological disorders of Winnie the Pooh and his friends. Her visceral work was at the center of the culture wars of the 1990s. She teaches at New York University.
