K2 Friday Nights

K2 Lounge

Museum admission is free every Friday night from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. during K2 Friday Nights.

K2 Lounge

During K2 Friday Nights, Café Serai becomes the K2 Lounge, offering a special pan-Asian tapas menu to accompany the evening's DJ and programs. Happy Hour runs from 6:00–7:00 p.m. with a 2-for-1 special on all beer, wine, and well drinks.

Note: Café Serai suspends service Friday afternoons from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m. while preparing for the K2 Lounge.

Live Music

At 7:00 p.m. enjoy the Museum's celebrated music series, including Naked Soul and Harlem in the Himalayas.

Gallery Tours

At 7:00 p.m. join a guide for an evening of exploration and conversation focused on staff favorites from our current exhibitions. Tours last approximately forty-five minutes. These tours are free and do not require reservations.

Films

At 9:30 p.m. catch Cabaret Cinema, screenings of world cinema classics that illustrate themes explored in the galleries. Each film is introduced by a notable guest to provide context or connections with current exhibitions and programming. Past presenters have included Liv Ullmann, Brian Cox, Vito Acconci, Alan Cumming, Benjamin Millepied, and Matt Dillon.

Talkingstick

Every second Friday of the month, Rubin Museum guides join professional storytellers from the Talkingstick collective to uncover the many layers of Himalayan art.

Group Reservations

The Rubin Museum is happy to accommodate groups during K2 Friday Nights. Call 212.620.5000 x345 or email reservations@rmanyc.org to make your reservation.

Groups are defined as fifteen or more people. For individuals and groups smaller than fifteen, K2 Lounge offers self-serve open seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are subject to availability and a $65 fee. They are typically requested four to six weeks in advance. Reservations are complimentary for members of the Rubin and for groups who book tours or attend a ticketed program. Learn more about becoming a member and booking tours. K2 Lounge Resident DJs

DJ Tyger Lilly
Seamlessly blending hip-hop and house with mainstream, Tyger Lilly calls on a spectrum of influences, from the music of her grandfather, Jarius Elliott, to that of Miles Davis, Fela Kuti, and Lauryn Hill.

DJ Don Cerati
Presenting and mixing genres as diverse as House, Funk, Afrobeat, Disco, Reggae, World Lounge, Cumbia, Dub, and Tropical Bass, to name just a few, producer Don Cerati is know for his eclectic DJ sets.

DJ i:Wah
Active as a DJ for more than fifteen years, i:Wah began performing at house parties and cafés in Atlanta, GA, and now frequents some of the country's finest lounges, dance clubs, and big-ticket events.

DJ Ripley
DJ Ripley has performed across nineteen countries and three continents since 1995, including in town squares, warehouses, ships, clubs, squats, community centers, and activist spaces.

DJ KindB
Trained as a classical pianist, DJ KindB crossed-over into the DJ circuit more than ten years ago. His style spans global electronic music, from Brazilian and Afro-Latin beats to Arabic and Asian grooves.

DJ $mall ¢hange
$mall ¢hange (aka James Dier) has been collecting music and DJ-ing for more than fifteen years. He is a constant presence on NYC's downtown scene, playing venues like APT, Nublu, Hiro, Cielo, and Pianos.
