The Rubin Himalayan Heritage Meet-Up
Himalayan Heritage Meet-Up
Every Month @ 6:00 PM
Meets on the first Friday of the month at the K2 Lounge.
*Participants arriving after 6:30 should go to the Rubin Museum Education Center at 132 W. 17th Street. *
For this month’s event, we welcome back Wangdak Tagsar, an esteemed lineage holder and instructor of the sacred songs and dances of Gesar, the national folk epic of the Himalayas and Central Asia. Mr. Tagsar will once again be leading an interactive workshop on Lingdro, a centuries-old traditional dance-drama depicting and invoking the auspicious life of King Gesar and his retinue. The program is free and open to all.
Intrigued by the culture, arts, history, and sacred traditions of Himalayan Asia? Join the Rubin Museum’s Himalayan Heritage Meet Up, an informal group that meets the first Friday of the month from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Attendees explore topics of interest through discussions, gallery tours, films, food, and meetings with guest speakers. The group is open and welcome to all. For further information, please contact Harry Einhorn or Tashi Chodron.
Tashi Chodron, Coordinator of Adult and Academic Outreach Programs, Rubin Museum Guide, and Voices of Tibet Founder, will serve as the host of the event.
