    Participants will explore the rich world of Tibetan Buddhist sacred art as an expression of enlightened energy through a lively discussion of paintings, sculpture, and textiles in the Rubin Museum collection. The class will provide opportunities to reflect on the symbolism and ritual function of these sacred artifacts as well as their relevance to contemporary life.

    No experience necessary. All materials included. Registration is required, as space is limited.

    Cancellation Policy: Requests for cancellation made at least one week prior to the first class will be refunded for the full amount. Requests made within one week and prior to 48 hours before the first class will be refunded for ½ of the total amount paid. Requests made within 48 hours of the first class will not be refunded.

     

     

     

     

     

    Michael Obremski is Coordinator of Adult & Academic Programs and has been Guide at the Rubin Museum for the past two and half years where he has deepened his knowledge of Tibetan art and Buddhism through the Museum’s resources. A former student of the Shambhala Buddhist tradition, Michael draws heavily on his experience there. Prior to living in New York City, he lived in Providence, RI, where he completed a BA and MFA at Brown University.
